Steve Down

Steve Down, founder of Storm Maker Media, is a cause entrepreneur, cause leader, and the founder of multiple successful businesses, who is bent on making a positive impact in communities. As such, all of the Steve Down companies have as their central focus the betterment of society and are driven to change lives. Steve Down is a living example that giving back to the community is what makes a business flourish. The companies Steve runs include Even Stevens Sandwiches, The Falls Event Center, Financially Fit, CE Karma, Blue Hat Ventures, Wings & Waves Waterpark, and Steve’s Hotel.

The desire Steve Down has for giving is manifested in a much deeper way than a simple contribution of money to the causes he supports. Rather, Steve has established a business model that makes customers benefactors within their own communities. Many of Steve Down’s companies are framed around a 1:1 model of giving—buy one, give one.

One particular company, Even Stevens, is a sandwich shop Steve Down founded on the 1:1 giving model. For each sandwich purchased, the shop gives away the value of a sandwich to a nonprofit organization who uses the money to provide food for the hungry in the community. Even Stevens presently supports over 40 individual nonprofits in local communities and in slightly more than two years the shop has given away over one million sandwiches. As the fastest growing fast casual dining restaurant chain in the USA, Even Stevens has demonstrated that when a company is founded on the premise of giving back, it achieves wild success. In fact, the shop sold 1 million sandwiches seven years faster than McDonald’s did at its beginnings.
Steve’s other companies span unique industries all the way from dental to hospitality to finance. CE Karma is a continuing education program for dentists that donates the proceeds from course attendees to nonprofits that offer free dental care to the needy. Steve’s Hotel is a new venture that, for each room reservation, will provide someone a night in a homeless shelter. Financially Fit is an organization that helps individuals quickly pay off debts and build wealth so they too can give back to the community and become successful.
